SHEAF SQUARE DEVELOPMENT

SHEFFIELD | UK

Lighting Design by Sutton Vane Associates

Sheaf Square was part of a £50 million Sheffield Station Masterplan, creating a new gateway to the city and forming part of the Gold Route .

Howard Street was designed to draw people through with its tall black lamp-posts, custom made seating blocks illuminated with fibre optics -concealed within the seats- and a series of uplit trees.

The Cutting Edge Sculpture represents the metalwork history of Sheffield. It is an 80m long mirror polished stainless steel sculpture with water running down one side. One end is circular with the other being elliptical. They are set with coloured glass designed by Keiko Mukade and lit from the inside giving it a jewel-like quality. Tha color changing water cascades ly on the other side of the square.

Barkers Pool was also part of the Sheffield masterplan. The Grade 1 Listed City Hall building was illuminated and a water feature with fibre optics created a central point on the square.
